Pet Insurance Australia has been helping owners protect their Cavoodles for years, with cover for the breed-specific conditions this much-loved crossbreed can inherit, from luxating patella and hip dysplasia to heart disease.

Intelligent, affectionate and endlessly loving, the Cavoodle is about as close to a natural lap dog as you will find. The breed forms strong bonds with its family and wants to be in the middle of whatever is happening, whether that is a walk around the block, a game with the kids, or simply curling up on the couch for a cuddle.
Cavoodles are adaptable, highly trainable and just as content in an apartment as a busy family home, with a curly, low-shedding coat that suits allergy sufferers. But as a crossbreed they can inherit conditions from both parent breeds, so responsible ownership, and the right health cover, matters from day one.

Cavoodles rank among the most trainable breeds, thanks to their intelligence and genuine eagerness to please, so most pick up commands quickly. Positive reinforcement gets the best results, with treats, praise and playtime doing far more than correction ever will. Their natural social skills make introductions to other animals and new people straightforward, and consistent training from the start helps manage their tendency to bark at visitors and strangers.
The Cavoodle’s curly, low-shedding coat needs brushing at least weekly to prevent matting, along with a professional trim every six to eight weeks. Regular ear cleaning helps prevent infections in those floppy ears, teeth brushing guards against dental problems, and a monthly bath keeps them fresh. As cuddly as they are, Cavoodles are lively dogs that need at least 30 minutes of activity each day, plus puzzle toys and interactive games to keep their minds busy and head off destructive behaviour.
Cavoodles adapt happily to apartment living or a busy family home, and their patient, gentle nature suits families with children of all ages. They are indoor dogs at heart, needing human company and feeling the cold easily, and they can become stressed if left outside away from the family. When choosing a puppy, look for a reputable breeder who screens for the hereditary conditions common in both parent breeds, raises litters in a clean environment, begins socialisation before puppies go home, and offers ongoing advice afterwards.
