Large dog breeds can bring a wealth of love and goofiness to any home. Known for their impressive strength and size they come in a wide range of breeds that are experts at a range of talents. From working and guarding dogs such as the Dobermann, German Shepherd, and Rottweiler, to popular retrievers like the Labrador and Golden Retriever. They are typically 56-69 centimetres tall from the shoulder and can weigh anything from 23 to 45 kilograms. However, like all dog breeds some may fall below or above this median weight and size.
It is very important before inviting a large dog into your home to do your research, particularly around the history of the breed and the exercise requirements. Many larger dogs need experienced dog owners and will require lifelong training to ensure they grow into well-rounded and well-mannered dogs.
Being larger they require more space and additional exercise than their smaller cousins. A larger dog breed that is not trained and exercised correctly can exhibit behavioural problems that can spell disaster for many homes.
Your pet’s health is priceless. Don’t leave it up to chance.
