Nikki LevinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely incredible service to the absolute highest standard. Pay back is immediate, gap cover is accepted, and in general the nicest most caring humans. I could not support my precious dog without their support. Could not recommend highly enough. Jen WebsterTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My normally very healthy, happy 16th month old chihuahua suddenly became very ill and had to be rushed to the animal hospital. After lots of tests and an overnight stay plus a week of strong antibiotics, she is now back to her normal lovely self. PIA accepted all the claims and processed the payments whilst I was still at the hospital. I could not be happier with the service I received from PIA. Simone RichardsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Only need to pay the gap, prompt claims and high proportion of costs covered- wouldn’t be without - so grateful for PIA for our golden retriever- wouldn’t be without - highly recommend! Brad DeasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have been insured with Pet Insurance Australia for our dog Ella for about 4 years now. The claiming process is extremely easy online and we usually receive our rebate within a day or so. Most recently we attended Sash Veterinary Hospital and they were able to process our claim for us so we only had to pay the gap payment. I would highly recommend Pet Insurance Australia. Personal GmailTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. PIA have become one of the best in their field. I highly recommend them, in fact many of my friends have signed up after my recommendation. Richard Taylor (artywah)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The PIA claims process has been easy to manage and has offered peace of mind for the cost of treatment Bianca BonnyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Cane Corso is a powerful working breed that originated in Italy and is thought to be one of the oldest dog breeds in the world. It descends from the Molossus, an ancient mastiff-type dog, and was later refined through crossbreeding between Neapolitan Mastiffs and Italian Mastiffs.
Historically, they were used as estate guardians, farm dogs, and hunters and were skilled at tracking large game, such as wild boar. Today, Cane Corsos still carry that no-nonsense edge, but underneath the armour is a fiercely loyal, intelligent dog that lives to please its people—especially when they know who’s boss! With the right training and plenty of love, they’re big softies in a bodybuilder’s suit.
Our dog insurance plans offer coverage for up to 90%* of eligible vet bills, a 21-day cooling-off period, friendly customer service, and the added perk of 2 months free on any new pet insurance plans.
If ‘strong and silent’ was a breed, it’d be the Cane Corso. Calm around the house, serious about protecting their crew, and sharp as a tack, these dogs don’t mess around. They pick up on training quickly but need firm, fair leadership and early socialisation to thrive.
They’re not couch potatoes either. Daily exercise, brain games, and a sense of purpose keep them balanced and happy. While their short coat is low-fuss, there’s one thing you can’t avoid—drool and snores. Cane Corsos are notorious for both (and proud of it!).

Specific Care Requirements
Happy Cane Corso dogs need consistent training, joint support, regular vet checkups, drool management and airflow during naps to help with snoring.
Fast eaters with a deep chest are a recipe for Bloat—a dangerous condition where the stomach twists and fills with gas. It’s sudden, serious, and often needs emergency surgery.
This is a heavyweight issue for a heavyweight breed! Hip Dysplasia occurs when the femur doesn’t fit into the hip socket, leading to stiffness, limping or arthritis. Ongoing treatment and possible surgery are often needed for this condition.
This quirky-sounding condition is when a gland pops out of your dog’s third eyelid, creating a reddish lump. It’s common in Cane Corsos and often fixed with surgery.
With Entropion, your Cane Corso’s eyelid rolls inward, causing their lashes to rub on the eyeball. Ouch! It’s uncomfortable and can lead to bigger problems without treatment, which often means surgery.
While some Heart Murmurs are harmless, others can point to underlying heart issues that need medication, vet monitoring or long-term care.
Your Cane Corso is a legend—bold, brave and born to protect. But even the biggest, baddest dogs need backup. Pet Insurance Australia offers cover that’s as reliable as your dog’s loyalty, with flexible plans, quick claims and real support when things get tough.
Whether dealing with surprise surgery or regular eye or joint checks, pet insurance for Cane Corso dogs can assist with those financial curveballs.
